Ellacotts LLP has today (28 July, 2011) been formally recognised as a top 100 UK accountancy firm for the first time in its history, thanks to a national survey conducted by the leading professional journal, Accountancy Age

David Saunders, managing partner at Banbury-based Ellacotts, said he was delighted with the achievement, pointing out the accolade rewarded the firm’s simple objective to add real value to the service every single client receives.

He said: “I like to think we’re different. We believe accounting, tax and business advice is about you and your lifestyle, rather than just numbers and products. That’s why we say we ‘deliver solutions’ and why we seem to be bucking the trend with our growth when compared with many of our competitors.”

He added: “As a firm we are thrilled to have made such good progress over the last year and to be ranked in the top 100 firms. We are also very proud to have been recruiting throughout the recent difficult economic times.”

David continued: “The growth of the firm has been significant and we moved premises in 2010 due to the need for more space.  We also merged with another local firm, Jones Boughton, in 2010 and this has consolidated our critical mass in all key services.

“We are still recruiting and hope to take on four more trainees in the next few weeks. The investment in new premises and new personnel has been made as a strategic decision to consolidate our strengths in specialist services, value for money and delivering solutions."

The Accountancy Age Top 50 +50 is an annual survey of leading UK firms in the profession.  The 2011 report shows that only three of the top 10 firms grew over the last year, showing how challenging the economy has been for the profession in recent times.  Ellacotts is placed at 95 in order of fees, with annual growth of 17%. Only one other firm in the top 100 has grown so fast.
