Our Charity

Ellacotts are delighted to announce that this financial year we have not one, but two designated Charities of the Year!

In our 2017-18 year, we will be raising funds for Katharine House Hospice in Banbury and Cransley Hospice in Kettering.

Each year we ask people to nominate charities that mean something to them, which is then followed by a vote, with the winner becoming our Charity of the Year. Katharine House Hospice and Cransley Hospice were a joint nomination and any donations are to be split evenly between the two.

David Stevens, Managing Partner, said:

“We are delighted to be supporting two charities local to our offices in Banbury and Kettering. At Ellacotts, we work with many local businesses and individuals and feel very much part of the community. Katharine House Hospice and Cransley Hospice do amazing work in the local area and we are looking forward to supporting them both over the next year.”

Throughout the year, we will be raising money through dress down days, cake bakes and various physical pursuits. If you would like to help us support these fantastic charities, please visit our fundraising page.

Katharine House Hospice provides specialist palliative care for adults with life limiting conditions for an area covering a community of about 140,000 people across North Oxfordshire, South Northamptonshire & South Warwickshire. It includes an in-patient unit, a day hospice, specialist nurses for home visits and a bereavement team. The Hospice services to patients are free of charge. It costs £6,000 per day to run their services and the government provides only around 35% of their costs.

Cransley Hospice serves the population of North Northamptonshire. It has nine inpatient beds and is the base for the Community Specialist Palliative Care Nurses.

The team of highly qualified nurses, doctors and therapists based within the Hospice enable their patients to approach the end of life with dignity, free from pain and distressing symptoms. Their team also provides extensive emotional and practical support for the patients’ families.

Cransley Hospice Trust has to raise £1.4 million to provide their services. As a charity, they rely on the local community to generate income through community fundraising and events, retail operations, donations and legacies.
