About Xero's new navigation

21 November 2018

From 27th November 2018, the user navigation bar will alter for all users.  The older version will be replaced with the new version as below.

New Xero Navigation

The main reason for the change is to make the menus more intuitive than previously and some of the previous menus will disappear.

  • The Company Name Menu – Will include organisation settings and ‘Files’
  • Dashboard – Will remain the same as in the previous version
  • Business – Will be the action menu which most users will use to create transactions in Xero including creating bills and invoice, inputting expense claims and payroll.  Inventory has been given a new name of ‘Products and Services’.
  • Accounting – This is where you will find ‘Bank Accounts’, ‘Reports’ and ‘Manual Journals’.  This tab is designed for accountants and bookkeepers as a compliance tab.
  • Projects – This will be only available if you have a Xero Project subscription.
  • Contacts – Remains unchanged.

The updated user navigation bar is already live within the ‘Demo Company’ in Xero for users to utilise before it goes live to everybody on 27th November.
