Accounts Technician

Agriculture & Property

After leaving school in 1976 I worked for Chubb Alarms as a costing clerk and was promoted to section leader. This role involved preparing the budgets and the actual cost throughout the job. Going through the blueprints of banks alarms systems was very interesting.

I then had a career break to bring up my daughter and son.

In 1988 I decided I needed a part-time job and joined a top five accountancy firm to work for their in-house accountant. The role was new to the firm, which was inputting staff weekly timesheets onto a system. After a number of years, an opportunity arose to work in the agricultural department, which was inputting the client’s data into the farming software, producing the reports and sending the data back to the client. From there I continued to work my way up in the department to accounts assistant, where I prepared sole trader and partnership accounts and attended the clients’ year-end meetings.

I left Grant Thornton after 29 years and joined Ellacotts as an Accounts Technician. Ellacotts has given me the opportunity to develop my career by doing what I love most – assisting farmers with their accounts. I enjoy building client relationships, being involved in discussing their future plans and being able to attend agricultural shows and prospect client meetings.

In my spare time, I enjoy catching up with the family, seeing the grandkids and weekends spent in Liverpool going to all the great restaurants.
