MAAT

Agriculture & Property

Initially based at the Strixton office, I joined the Agriculture & Property department of Ellacotts LLP, as a Senior Technician in 2013.  As business in the area increased, and staffing numbers continued to grow, I moved with the team to the offices based in Kettering in 2015.

My working background is primarily in the accounting field, covering both industry and practice.  I developed much of my knowledge and experience, and gained my AAT and part ACMA qualifications, during my 15 years with a local automotive textile manufacturing company.  Progression within the company led to the role of Financial Controller, until the closure of the company in 2010.

My first role in practice was as an Accounts Senior, managing clients in the licenced trade.  I had my own base of clients to manage and my job was to process their Management accounts, VAT returns, and year-end accounts.  Before working at Ellacotts LLP, I also had the opportunity to work for several other large companies, including Unilever Research & Development, and Toyo Tyre (UK).

My position at Ellacotts LLP entails processing client accounts and tax computations, for Sole traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies.  I manage the bookkeeping for a number of clients, submit VAT returns, and I undertake several client visits during the year.  The different functions of my role provide much variety, and the on-site processing of accounts gives me the opportunity to meet our clients.

Away from the office, I dedicate much of my time to Karate.  I am currently working towards my 1st kyu (final grade brown belt), with the aim to achieve my shodan ho (black belt) within the next couple of years.  I have gained a great sense of achievement from the sport, having competed at several Regional zone competitions (and medalling quite successfully), and qualifying for both Central zone and World Cup events.
