We are very proud to announce that our new Charity of the Year for 2020 is SSNAP – the Charity for Sick Newborns and their Parents at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Throughout the year, we will be raising money through dress down days, cake bakes and our big fundraising event. If you would like to help us support this fantastic charity, please visit our fundraising page.

David Stevens, Ellacotts Managing Partner, said:
“We are delighted to be supporting SSNAP as our new Charity of the Year in 2020.  SSNAP do amazing work in supporting parents, families and sick newborns at the John Radcliffe Hospital and we hope our fundraising efforts help them to continue this.”

About SSNAP

SSNAP was formed in 1982 by a group of parents who recognised the need to assist with fundraising for additional resources for the Newborn Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. In that time they have helped hundreds of families with their work including:

  • Supporting families whilst their baby is in the Neonatal Care Unit including emotional and practical help with transport and accommodation
  • Improving care by funding new and innovative equipment with their equipment fund
  • Working with leading researchers from the University of Oxford on groundbreaking research in neonatal medicine

About our Charity of the Year Process

Each year we ask our staff and Partners to nominate charities that mean something to them. They can nominate any charity they wish. All nominate charities are then put to a vote, with the winner becoming our Charity of the Year. This allows for each charity to have equal chances of being nominated and a fair way to decide between the hundreds of fantastic and worthy charities.

During 2018 and 2019 we raised a grand total of £9,500 for the mental health charity Mind by holding bake sales, our Ellacotts Charity Quiz at Banbury United and our 20 mile walk-a-thon. Find out more about our fundraising efforts for Mind here.
