I joined the Agriculture and Property department in 2013 as a Trainee Accountant, after making a decision to change my career path from the retail industry.
During my time at Ellacotts, I have successfully completed my AAT qualification and I have now started studying towards achieving the ICAEW chartered qualification.
My day-to-day tasks include preparing accounts for a mixture of sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and LLP’s and preparing tax computations and VAT returns. As well as this, I am involved with calculating tax liabilities for clients. I also have a strong interest in trusts, and assist with various trust types, including interest in possession, discretionary and land pooling trusts for some of our largest estates.
Ellacotts have a very good training system, which includes a mentoring programme that has benefitted me a lot throughout my time at Ellacotts and will continue to aid my progression in fields of the job. It has also made my progression evident to myself, as I am now able to assist more junior staff members in a similar way.
I enjoy being involved in a variety of work and interacting with clients, both in the office and at agriculture shows and events. I also look forward to broadening my knowledge and experience further.
When I am not in the office, I enjoy going on holiday to work on my tan and eating out at a variety of restaurants. In an attempt to keep fit, I have recently started swimming a few times a week.
