I am a Consultant in the Agriculture and Property department at Ellacotts. I have over 40 years’ experience as a Chartered Accountant specialising in the Agricultural and Rural sector, including 25 years as a Partner at a well-known international firm. During this time I developed a substantial team in Bedford and Kettering which serviced a wide range of clients from small, family farms to large commercial farming operations, landed estates up to 25,000 acres and large agri-businesses, mainly in Central and Eastern England.
I specialise in providing clients with meaningful accounts and practical income and capital taxation advice, particularly Inheritance and Capital Gains Tax on Farms and Estates, Tax planning for land transactions including development land and specialist areas of Rollover Relief and Entrepreneurs’ Relief. I also advise on business structures, partnerships, partnership agreements, companies, trusts, contract farming arrangements and tenancies.
I am a former Chairman of the Bedfordshire Committee at the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust and am a Trustee for a small number of rural estates as well as the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB) in Cambridge (retired 2019). I was also High Sheriff of Bedfordshire in 2011/12.
Away from the office, I am married with two grown up sons and two young grandchildren and I enjoy golf, shooting, fishing and a spot of gardening.
