I joined Ellacotts, bringing over 20 years of experience in the accountancy profession. Having started my career at a local accountancy practice where I completed both my AAT and ACCA qualifications, I developed a strong foundation across all areas of accountancy. This broad experience now underpins my specialist role in forensic accounting.

Before joining Ellacotts, I spent more than four years as a Forensic Manager, during which time I worked on a wide range of complex forensic assignments. I also obtained my ACCA Practising Certificate, which enables me to produce expert witness reports for use in court proceedings.

Clients and colleagues often ask, “What does a forensic accountant actually do?” The answer is that no two days are the same. My work typically includes:

• Matrimonial Disputes – Providing complex business valuations and advising on taxation and liquidity issues to support financial settlements.
• Capital Gains Tax (CGT) Calculations – Preparing CGT computations on properties and assets as part of financial remedy proceedings.
• Shareholder Disputes – Valuing shareholdings when business relationships break down and an exit is required.
• Fraud Investigations – Analysing financial data to identify and report on irregular transactions and patterns.
• Loss of Profit Claims – Assisting businesses in understanding and quantifying financial losses due to various disruptions.

My role centres on investigating and interpreting financial information to help clients and their advisers gain clarity and insight in often complex or contentious situations.

What I value most about forensic accounting is its variety and the unique challenges each case presents. While the analytical approach remains consistent, every assignment brings something different, making the work both engaging and rewarding.
