Building and construction accountants

Building and construction is a notoriously unpredictable industry sector. To succeed in it requires efficiency, foresight and good advice. We have many clients in the building and construction industry – ranging from sole traders to construction companies, developers and investors.

Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)

If you are a contractor you may need to register for the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS). Under the CIS, contractors deduct money from a subcontractor’s payments and pass it to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

These payments count towards the subcontractor’s tax and National Insurance contributions. Subcontractors don’t have to register, but tax and National Insurance deductions are taken at a higher rate if they’re not registered.

There are significant penalties for failure to operate CIS correctly so we can provide training or operate the scheme on your behalf.

Forecasting cashflow and raising finance

We can provide cashflow forecasts to present to banks if you applying for a loan or overdraft. We can also help set up alternative methods of financing such as peer to peer lending.

VAT planning

We can assist in providing a plan covering all the VAT aspects such as should you opt the property to tax or the consideration of the property being zero rated for VAT purposes and help with registration.
