I work in the Agriculture and Property Department in Kettering as an ACA trainee. I joined the team in July 2019 following my graduation from Aston University, where I achieved a degree in Mathematics. During the course of my time with Ellacotts, I have completed my AAT qualification and have begun working my way towards qualifying with ICAEW as a chartered accountant.
My job entails preparing year-end accounts, VAT returns and tax returns for clients. I often help advise clients with any enquiries they may have, and deliver them with solutions. This can sometimes be in the form of assisting clients on using the Xero software.
I do not come from an agricultural background myself, however, since working at Ellacotts I have been exposed to a new and fascinating industry by having conversations with clients and preparing their end-of-year harvest accounts. I now find myself looking for agricultural aspects in my day-to-day life and pointing them out to friends and family, who have no idea what I’m talking about
