My role here at Ellacotts is mainly focused on preparing the annual accounts and tax returns for our agricultural clients. I prepare a range of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies along with individual, partnership and corporation tax returns. I also get involved in tax planning and preparation of Capital Gains Tax computations.
When I joined Ellacotts, I started by preparing accounts and tax returns but gradually took on the bookkeeping role for many agricultural clients. I visit several clients each month/quarter, dealing with their bookkeeping on Farmplan, Landmark, Sum It, Sage and Xero.
My role largely involves helping our clients with their tax responsibilities, be it Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Corporation Tax or VAT. My goal is to minimise the tax bill by making the best use of the reliefs available. I also get involved in ad hoc work; examples being profit projections and refinancing.
My clients vary from small sole traders to larger international companies with multi-currency accounts, preparing monthly management reports and quarterly VAT returns. I love the variety and diversity of clients that I deal with and the unique challenges each client brings with them
With this practical experience and wide knowledge, I enjoy providing ongoing business and tax planning advice to farming and rural clients, as well as dealing with accounting and tax compliance matters.Â
The dedicated BaTS department has a diverse portfolio of business start-ups and owner-managed businesses. Within my role, I help ensure that we, as a team, are available to provide personal contact and ongoing support to our clients whenever it is needed.
Upon moving to North Oxfordshire and raising a family, I have specialised in limited companies and owner-managed businesses. I joined Ellacotts in 2010 and became a Manager in 2017.
On a daily basis, I am involved with Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax planning for our clients, together with all aspects of accounts compliance work for a variety of rural clients from sole traders to family partnerships, trusts and farming companies
I joined Ellacotts in the Corporate Services Department in 2017 as a Personal Assistant to Managing Partner David Stevens and Corporate Services Partner Charlotte Toemaes. I also work as a Team Secretary within the department and after 5 years at the firm, I am still enjoying the variety and challenges the role presents.
