MAAT

Agriculture & Property

I started my training with Deloittes in Cheltenham, before moving to Bicester in 1982. I was with Grant Thornton for a short while before moving to Germany and a couple of years later, Cyprus.  I qualified with the AAT (Association of Accounting technicians) in 1987.

I joined a local Bicester based practice in 1986, and other than a couple of absences due to maternity leave, stayed with them until moving to Ellacotts in 2009.

I had my own portfolio of clients and dealt with accounts, tax returns, VAT returns and payroll, so gained a lot of all-round knowledge. Several clients moved across to Ellacotts with me, so I have known and dealt with these for 25-30 years!

Once I joined Ellacotts, I started by preparing accounts and tax returns but gradually took on the bookkeeping role for many agricultural clients. I now visit several clients each month, dealing with their bookkeeping on Farmplan, Landmark, Sum-It and Sage. I deal with VAT enquiries, many relating to VAT and property, and enjoy the client contact very much. Many have become friends over the years.

Working at Ellacotts is busy, challenging and satisfying. I am trusted to carry out my role and always know that there is support should I need it.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, love to travel when I can, and also have much of my time taken up by my two dogs!
