I joined the Ellacotts Agriculture and Property department in November 2010 after making the decision to train and learn as part of an accountancy practice in a practical environment rather than studying towards an accountancy degree. This decision paid off as I have undertaken all of my AAT and ICAEW training with Ellacotts, allowing me to remain at home on the family farm. I took the ‘fast track’ route to qualification with the ICAEW and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in December 2015.

I look after a wide range of farming and landowning clients, including sole traders, family partnerships and landed estates. I am developing my specialism in trust accounting and tax matters, due to my involvement with some of the firm’s larger estate clients. I am involved with all aspects of accountancy from accounts and tax return compliance to Inheritance Tax planning. Coming from a farming family, I can relate to the issues faced within the sector and am very personal with my approach to my work.

Away from the office, I can be found on the family farm playing an active role, especially when it comes to calving time in our Aberdeen Angus herd. I am an avid horse rider, a passion that has remained with me since my childhood. I also love to travel; you will often find me in the mountains during the ski season, although I don’t like to be away from my horses for too long!
