I joined Ellacotts in November 2023 as a VAT manager and I am part of the Tax Team. My role is to provide VAT advisory services across our diverse client base and have worked with OMBs to large multi-national corporations.
I started my VAT journey in 2013 when I joined HMRC as a compliance officer, where I also studied for my AAT. In 2017 I joined Croner Taxwise as a VAT advisor, giving technical advice over the phone to accountants and in-house finance teams. I have also held VAT manager roles at regional and national accountancy firms in the West Midlands.
VAT may feel like an illogical tax, however, I do like the variety my role brings and it keeps me on my toes! During my VAT career I have conducted VAT inspections/repayment checks at HMRC, delivered training to clients, conducted VAT health checks and provided technical advice on a range of topics and risk areas, including:
- Land and Property.
- Place of Supply of Services.
- Import/Exports.
- Partial Exemption.
- Charities
- Education
- Healthcare including Welfare Services.
Away from the office, I enjoy socialising with friends and family and playing several sports. I’m an avid reader and currently writing a short storybook for children.
